I had heard there were some who had passed in our graduating class. Sorry to see you go. I thought I would be the first. Damn, luck is tricky.

Has anyone made the cheese pretzel recipe?  Just how many pretzels does this make?  Any recipe that calls for ingredients in lbs vs cups scares the hell out of me... i don't want to be eating cheese pretzels for the next week!

Sorry it has taken me so long to get back to you with the cheese info!  I guess in the schools they have a warmer and after they cook the pretzels they put them in the warmer with shredded cheddar cheese on them.  Yum!

Ahh...yes...the cheese.  I bet it doesn't take long for the cheese to melt...so don't put it on too soon.  I will check with the pretzel maker and get back to you on that one.

Fantastic pictures - great to see the next generation are now hooked on cheese pretzels!  Will definitely have to make the trek for the next planned reunion - even if I don't sound like I'm from Michigan anymore and have a slight English accent (not quite Dick Van Dyke!).

Okay...here it is...

Cheese Pretzel Recipe

1/3 lbs. shortening
1/8 lbs. butter
1 1/2 cup sugar
1/2 gallon warm water
1/2 cup yeast
1 1/4 cups powdered milk
5 1/2 lbs. flour
1 1/4 tabespoon salt

In a mixer:

Add to water, butter, shortening and sugar.  Combine salt, flour, and powdered milk in a separate bowl.  Add to water mixture.  Mix slowly.  Add yeast and continue to mix.  If it feels sticky and sticks to your hand when touched add more flour and mix well again.  Rise in mixer bowl and punch down once.  Roll small amount of dough into a long rope and twist to form a pretzel.  Let raise to 325 degrees until brown.

Good luck!

It was great seeing everyone.  My husband and I had a really great time catching up with all of you.  Really disappointed that there were a lot of locals (LaCross, Riffel, Sullivan) who did not attend.  I think a 25 year w/the grads down the road would be great.  Thanks to all of you who helped put this fabulous weekend together.

Thanks again to Amy, Ellen, Cammie, Jen, and anyone else that spent time putting the reunion together. It was great. I'm with Ellen, a combined reunion with the Ike 88 grads would be cool. You have my vote. Still waiting for the Cheese Pretzel recipe, my kids are now bugging me for it.

Hi DMHS Class of '88!  I have to (humbly) say that we ROCK!!  What a fun weekend I had seeing friends and remembering fun (and sometimes embarrassing) times we all had together!!  I can't remember the last time I laughed so much in one weekend.  Laura Nugent, you can bring your hubby to any party of mine!  And I can't wait to see Barrera's photos (but I may need a computer lesson to make your ideas work.....)

THANK YOU to everyone who came and for the positive feedback, including all of the donations to keep the website going!  I encourage all of you to check in, add your photos and give us local gals (plus Chad) more ideas for future reunion events.

Pete and I survived round II of reunion weekend with our cross-town rivals... I mean friends :)  Many Eisenhower grads were interested in how all of you are doing and said "HI".  As we think about when we do this again, what do you think about a joint event, perhaps for an off-year or 5 year get together?

Looking forward to many more great times together,

Ellen

Hey everyone. I took ALOT of pictures, and I tried to get face shots of as many people as possible (you know, to compare with our senior pictures! :) as well as shots of groups of people. You know the ladies of our class have really outdone all others in being indistringuishable from 20 years ago! So anyhow, I am sitting on 200+ high resolution images needing a nice home and audience. We might even do something like have contests: showing only the mouth who owns them teeth and lips? Who has the best legs? Who is the most likely to be blackmailed by these images? How many people are no longer brunettes? Who has the funkiest dance? We can have fun with this!

Seriously, it was a blast and being paparazzi had its own benefits!

Look forward to the next one! Just let me know how to provide the pictures. :)

This site has been a great distraction from work for me for months - kinda fun catching up.  I'm bumming but will not be able to attend the festivities this weekend.  Life has gotten very busy: I've remarried and have a great 8 year old step-son - we're adopting a wonderful 2 yr old son and my wife(Tonia) and I had our first son in October -- Dakota,Dominic and Ashton keep the two of us very busy.  This has all happened since 11-06 - I'm still in the life adjustment zone and loving every minute of it. I'll be missing a few things this weekend for sure -- watching Wurtz crush everything into cosmic dust - trying to understand shoe and goat's own foreign language - trying to keep up with Hendrick's beer-a-minute party swilling - trying to make sure that Storky(Ashton's godfather) doesn't freeze himself - and finally calling the entire class of '89 to see if Evans can hang out with us ...... have a great time all,

Hello one and all,
If you happen to read this, I did get the flyer in the mail.  It arrived safely to my lovely home in Lansing, MI where my wife Nichole and I have lived since the summer of 2000.  I currently work as a librarian for Lansing Community College and Nichole is a librarian for the Capital Area District Library.  Life is good and very busy with daughter Hazel, five, and son August, 2.75!

Sorry, but we will not be able to attend this event as Nichole will be going to see The Police on the 26th with some friends.  Maybe in five more years?  You can see photos of me (mostly), random shots, and my family at http://flickr.com/photos/8339802@N02
Hope you have fun.  Peace.
